Our final trip of 2024 took us to the Philippines—just the two of us. From world-class islands to scenic road trips and heartfelt reunions, this journey turned out to be one of our most enjoyable and memorable trips.
We explored Boracay, Cebu, El Nido, and Manila, each destination offering a different rhythm—relaxed beaches, adventurous days, and meaningful personal connections.
Boracay: Island Hopping and Easy Beach Day
We began our journey in Boracay, a destination known for its powder-soft sand and turquoise waters. Here, we focused on slowing down.
One of our highlights was island hopping—clear waters, small islands, boat rides, and plenty of time in the sea. We also spent long hours enjoying Boracay’s iconic beaches, watching sunsets, and doing absolutely nothing in the best possible way.
Boracay set the tone for the trip: relaxed, sunny, and effortless.
Cebu: Road Trips, Safari Adventures, and City Views
From Boracay, we traveled to Cebu, where we decided to explore more independently. We hired a car for two days, giving us flexibility and a sense of adventure.
Cebu Safari & Adventure Park
One full day was dedicated to the Cebu Safari and Adventure Park, the largest safari park in the Philippines. Located in the mountains of Carmen, the park is home to hundreds of animals from around the world—giraffes, zebras, lions, birds, and more.
Driving through scenic mountain roads and spending the day at the safari felt refreshing and unique. It wasn’t rushed; it was immersive, educational, and genuinely enjoyable.
Cebu City Day Tour
On another day, we explored Cebu’s cultural and scenic highlights:
- Temple of Leah, with its grand architecture and panoramic city views
- Sirao Garden, often called the “Little Amsterdam” of Cebu
Cebu surprised us with how much it offers beyond beaches—mountains, culture, and space to explore at your own pace.
El Nido: The Highlight of the Trip
If one place truly stole our hearts, it was El Nido.
We joined a full-day island hopping tour on a bright, sunny day, complete with lunch. The experience was nothing short of magical—towering limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, crystal-clear waters, and peaceful beaches.
Swimming, boating, relaxing, sharing a meal by the sea—everything felt perfectly timed. There was no rush, no distractions—just nature and togetherness.
El Nido wasn’t just a destination; it was a feeling. Easily the best part of our Philippines trip.
Manila: Shopping and Meaningful Connections
We ended our journey in Manila, where the pace shifted once again.
Our time in Manila was mostly spent shopping and relaxing, but it was also special for another reason—my wife met her colleagues. She works remotely for a U.S. company, and some of her teammates are based in the Philippines. Meeting them in person added a meaningful, personal layer to the trip.
Manila gave us a comfortable close to our journey—urban, familiar, and reflective.
Looking Back: Why Philippines 2024 Will Always Matter
This trip gave us:
- Beautiful islands and unforgettable sea days
- Independent road trips and wildlife experiences
- Cultural landmarks and scenic views
- Personal connections beyond tourism
Most importantly, it gave us time together—unhurried, joyful, and deeply memorable.
Philippines 2024 wasn’t just another trip.
It was a journey we’ll always remember—with gratitude, smiles, and stories worth retelling.
